Spectra from Forming Region of the First Galaxies : the Effect of Aspherical Deceleration

چکیده
Lyα line emission from the Loeb-Rybicki (LR) halo, which is the expanding HI IGM (intergalactic medium) around the first star clusters and the ionized interstellar medium, is investigated by solving a radiative transfer problem. While the initial scattering optical depth is ∼ 10 for the Lyα photons, most of the Lyα photons can escape when the cumulative frequency-shift due to the expansion of the HI IGM becomes significantly large. The current paper improves upon previous treatments of the scattering processes and the opacity for the Lyα transfer. Confirming the previous results of the LR halo, we investigate the effect of the aspherical expansion of the IGM. The asphericity is hypothesized to follow the initial stage of the gravitational deceleration to form the large scale filamentary structure of the Universe. According to our results, the effect of the asphericity lets the peak wavelength of the line profile shift to longer wavelengths and the FWHM of the profile become wider than those of the spherically expanding model. To detect these features is meaningful if we are interested in the initial evolution of the large scale structure, since they reflect the dynamical properties of the IGM at that time. Furthermore, given the recent discovery of the high redshift cosmological reionization, we briefly comment on the effects of the redshift and the cosmological parameters on the line profile. AGN Zoo and Classications of Active Galaxies
We review the variety of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) classes (so-calledAGN zoo") and classification schemes of galaxies by activity types based on their optical emission-line spectrum, as well as other parameters and other than optical wave-length ranges. A historical overview of discoveries of various types of active galaxies is given, including Seyfert galaxies, radio galaxies, QSOs, BL Lace...
متن کاملA WAVELET-BASED PROCEDURE FOR MINING OF PULSE-LIKE GROUND MOTIONS FEATURES ON RESPONSE SPECTRA
The main objective of this paper is to present a wavelet-based procedure to characterize principle features of a special class of motions called pulse-like ground motions. Initially, continues wavelet transform (CWT) which has been known as a powerful technique both in earthquake engineering and seismology field is applied easily in automated detecting of strong pulse of earthquakes. In this pr...
متن کاملThe Direct Detection of Lyman-continuum Emission from Star-forming Galaxies
We present the results of rest-frame ultraviolet spectroscopic observations of a sample of 14 z ∼ 3 star-forming galaxies in the SSA22a field. These spectra are characterized by unprecedented depth in the Lyman-continuum region. For the first time, we have detected escaping ionizing radiation from individual galaxies at high redshift, with two of the 14 objects showing significant emission belo...
متن کاملThe Mg II λ2797, λ2803 emission in low-metallicity star-forming galaxies from the SDSS⋆
We present 65 Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) spectra of 62 star-forming galaxies with oxygen abundances 12 + log O/H ∼ 7.5–8.4. Redshifts of selected galaxies are in the range z ∼ 0.36–0.70. This allows us to detect the redshifted Mg ii λ2797, λ2803 emission lines. Our aim is to use these lines for the magnesium abundance determination. The Mg ii emission was detected in ∼2/3 of the galaxies. ...
متن کاملEvolution of Star Forming and Active Galaxies in Nearby Clusters
We have used optical spectroscopy to investigate the active galaxy populations in a sample of 20 nearby Abell clusters. The targets were identified on the basis of 1.4 GHz radio emission, which identifies them as either AGN or galaxies forming stars at rates comparable to or greater than that of the Milky Way. The spectra were used to characterize the galaxies via their emission and absorption ...
